Hi, I’m Susanna Patterson and I love to paint. I especially love to paint animals. I’ve been painting them all my life (see the cute painting I did in preschool – even then I was painting wildly colored animals).
I graduated from Texas State University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting. At first, I was all about painting with acrylics, then I switched to oil painting and thought, this is it. But watercolor – now that’s what I truly love! I’ve been obsessed ever since I took my first class! Turns out, I really have a knack for painting details and the texture of hair, so it only made sense to start painting animals. So while I was in college, I started painting dog portraits for my family and friends. After the first one, I was hooked and can’t seem to stop. Word got out and I started getting requests for all types of animals and even fish. The more detail a painting needs, the more I love to paint it – fur, feathers and even fish scales. I also love color – bright colors. When I look at the animals in my portraits, I don’t see them in black, white or brown, I imagine them in purple, blue, or orange enhanced with splashes of complementary colors. These colors give the animals even more personality than they already have. I will hand-paint your portrait from your photo. I hand-stretch and paint all of my portraits on acid free, heavy weight 140 lb. cold press watercolor paper. I only use professional watercolor paint. All of my portraits are one-of-a-kind and truly unique. You will have the original and only copy. I will work with you to make sure you are 100% satisfied.
